Back to posting after a century of hiatus.
My fieldwork is taking me away from the internet for awhile, hence the lack of posts. One thing I love about going away on a fieldwork is that I’m off my butt. Being cooped up in the office, sitting on my fat behind and in front of the computer makes me weak and my eyes irritated. The fresh air and the green scenery when I travel is a most welcome respite.
Weekends I spend with my family at my parents’ house. My nieces are also there spending the weekend with the oldies so you can just imagine the chaos at home. Chaotic, but fun! The cousins run around Grandpa and Grandma’s garden, playing in the grass outdoors when the sun is not too hot – or when it’s not raining. Otherwise, they’ll be indoors, watching cartoons or fiddling with their tablets.
Last weekend, the kids wanted to go the recently-opened Robinson’s department store for a stroll. I get nervous when they ask to go because they might see things that we are not ready to get for them, lol. But anyways, they were all behaved. We had merienda (snack) at the foodcourt. My niece took a photo of us – me, my baby and my other niece. For some reason, it turned out yellow!
This is probably what my son and his cousins were discussing while taking a break from their football training.
They’re enrolled at the free summer football clinic in Roxas City. The three enjoyed the “play” but after three days, only one remained running — and that’s the little one in the middle. The older ones, her sister (left) and cousin, my son (right), gave up because their legs and feet hurt, so they both say. Lol.
I have to thank my husband for not only taking our son but also the girls to the football clinic. The summer football clinic is held at the Villareal stadium. Thanks to activities like these, many kids are having fun this summer. If this is an initiative of our city government, kudos to your effort. I hope many more fun activities will be offered – for free – for children every year.
My boy and his younger cousin, Chappi, riding on a fire truck. This is still in the playground at San Antonio Resorts. It really is a great place to bring your kids.
The two were role-playing. They said they’re off to save Bopbop, Chappi’s elder sister, who was “trapped inside a burning house”, or so they pretended. The role-playing was completed with Bop’s cries for help and a loud siren/alarm that, of course, came from the “firefighters” own mouths, hahaha.
Still at the San Antonio Resorts in Brgy. Baybay in Roxas City…
I was surprised at how nice is the children’s playground there. Filled with the usual see-saws, slides, monkeybars and swings, it is large enough for kids to play and run around. There are lots of trees and flowering plants, and the grass are wonderfully trimmed. There are benches/chairs, too, that you’d normally see in parks where the oldies can relax, read a book or watch the kids and while away the time. There also pockets of areas like this, where you see duwendes (dwarves or gnomes) that don’t look spooky at all.
After the initial chaos of assigning which one is whom, they all agreed that the gnome with the green hat is Joshua, the one in yellow, on the left, is Beebop, and on the right is Chappi.
And the three began singing … hi-ho, hi-ho.. it’s off to work we go…
Didn’t I tell you my son and niece are here? My mother arrived last week to accompany my son. Turned out, she couldn’t leave without Beebop, my niece, who is inseparable with her so she had to bring her along, too.
Anyways, over the weekend, my younger sister (I currently share the apartment with her) and her boyfriend took us all out. We went to the zoo, much to the children’s delight. They were so excited to see the animals, especially the feathered ones. They learned about ostrich at school so when they met an ostrich for the first time, they were animated! My son was talking non-stop. You can tell from the picture, yes? My niece was a bit hesitant to go now but after a few minutes, both of them were feeding the ostrich.
Looks like I’m in a (blogging) roll these days. I’m trying 😀
I missed blogging. It’s a wonderful outlet but my mama duties have kept me away for awhile.
Since I am making a comeback, I decided to join memes this time. They’re fun and so much easy to do compared to writing a blog post. So, for my first entry for the Mellow Yellow Monday, I’m sharing a photo of my son’s school presentation during their Christmas party.
The children wore different shirt colors to categorize their grade level – nursery (red), kinder 1 (green) and kinder 2 (yellow). My son’s in kinder 1 and his cousin, my niece, is in nursery.
